Tracking Number Format
UPS uses multiple tracking number formats depending on the service type. The most common is the 1Z format: an 18-character alphanumeric code starting with '1Z' followed by the shipper's 6-digit account number, a 2-digit service code (e.g., 01 = Next Day Air, 02 = 2nd Day Air, 03 = Ground, 12 = 3 Day Select), an 8-digit package identifier, and a 1-digit check character (e.g., 1Z999AA10123456784). Other accepted formats include 9-digit, 10-digit (starting with 'T'), and 12-digit numeric tracking numbers. UPS Mail Innovations numbers can be 18–34 characters. LTL/TL freight uses PRO Numbers. Tracking history is available for 120 days after delivery. Always use uppercase '1Z' when entering tracking numbers.
